All true. I feel the conversation should never be about how long we have done something, but perhaps be around kinship, camaraderie, and the connection and love of the craft. It’s a long path that can take us to so many places and we are all in different places in the journey.

I love this post, thank you. I sense that as we create such openness and acceptance, our creative centers are allowed to flow more freely, whereas when we feel threatened by others posturing, our creative flow becomes blocked.

Thank you for sharing.

There are some, thankfully few, in the craft who see them selves as gate keepers.

I mean who really wants to be the last clog maker in Yorkshire. Other crafts are available.

The enthusiasm of those entering the craft is something to be encouraged.

The gateway drug of spoon carving has brought many to my workshop door.

And it is always a privilege to be generous.

Should it be with time, materials or advice.πŸ™πŸ»

This is a wonderful perspective. From a completely different environment, I have heard similar comments. This is akin to wearing an Ivy League tie, or similar badge of honor, to elevate ourselves; some visual, some spoke, all unnecessary. Thank you for shining the light on the topic.
